funny how you talk how good 8gb of ram in an imac is and i’ve got 8gb in my macbook pro. technology is rocketing forward

  2. iGreenBerry says:

what are you talking about? i know what the OLPC is, but what does that have to do with what I said?

  3. NeverMindTheGuns says:

Lie. The One Laptop per Child program’s product is.

If someone is looking for a budget computer ($1000 or less) they are looking for the most bang for their buck. To me the Mac Mini is WAY over priced just like the Mac book air.

I’m just saying that I would rather have a PC that has double or triple (in some cases) the specs for the same price as the Mac Mini….

  5. agskennedy says:

you just asked for a cheaper low spec machine, got your answer and said oh its not the best deal. you didnt ask for the best deal you said cheaper and lower spec. THATS THE MINI! make up your mind

  6. iGreenBerry says:

Apple doesn’t just charge for the name. To make a computer that small and have all the specs takes a lot in micro computing advancements. I don’t blame Apple for wanting some extra compensation, plus the Mac mini is the most energy efficient computer to date

As in high end i mean like BMW vs Cadillac. Both have very nice luxury models but one luxury or quality is much different. Someone buying a BMW they don’t have to ask the question is this real leather, did they go the cheep route when choosing mechanical parts. BMW has made some lower priced cars but to be honest they r crap & i would not not buy them. Low end mac would probably be same as well, Honestly i don’t mind the prices for quality, save up and sacrifice & everyone can have it. worth it.

  8. TheGreatStash1994 says:

It’s kind of funny to me that Apple would be more worried about being “high end”, Compared to actually getting their OS out to people… That’s just what I think, but what do I know about marketing. And they do make low end computers they just price them high (that doesn’t make them high end)

Buying used computers (or parts) unless you have seen that they actually work is not a good idea IMHO…

  9. garrick2007 says:

Thats wat EBAY’s for perfectly fine and fast macs are on their for low prices, you can get a macbook pro 2.4ghz for $800. I think apple is being nice to windows pc’s for not going into their market range. I also think apple is a high end company and they try not to make low end products. Apples products are not aimed for the everyday person as much as everyone thinks, look at snow leopard, people cant tell a difference because its not intended for the everyday guy, difference to me though.

  10. TheGreatStash1994 says:

Yeah, but why would someone one a budget get a Mac Mini at $600 when they could get a HP Pavilion p6280t for $550 that has a higher clocked 4 core CPU, 640GB HDD, and 6GB of RAM.

Just because it’s the cheapest computer offered my Apple doesn’t mean it’s the best deal offered. I’m not saying the Mac Mini is a bad computer I’m just saying that Apple charges A LOT just for the name.

  11. iGreenBerry says:

Thats what a Mac mini is for, it’s $600

  12. TheGreatStash1994 says:

Apple seems to have a big issue with understanding that a lot of people that would buy Macs are really turned of by the prices…

Just offer some lower specs and and they would see a large increase of buyers…

also, as the frequencies decrease, the latencies affect the performance more. so having ddr3 1066 mhz ram means for every 1066 clocks, the latencies create delay in processing. ddr2 is still fine, but ddr3 is the new standard. its kind of dissappointing how macs come with 1066 mhz ddr3 and not the standard 1333mhz, just like macs putting in ddr2 667 instead of 800mhz.

  14. 4Cunt says:

    * made a mistake; should say DDR3-1066. That’s even worse.

  15. 4Cunt says:

DDR3-1333 at CAS 9? that must be pretty shit RAM they’re using.
    I have 8GB DDR2-1066 at CAS 5.

  16. 4Cunt says:

The profit margins are pretty high on the Mac computers, so it would be a matter of how many they sell.

  17. deluxedookie says:

they made all there money off the ipod not there computers

  18. deluxedookie says:

yeah you can i got a beast for alittle over $2000

  19. deluxedookie says:

ddr3 is is faster if your bus supports it and ram only runs as fast as your slowest piece so if you bought cheap ram or have a slower piece parierd with faster. that what your gonna get.

  20. qwertymac93 says:

ddr3 is over rated, sure the speed is doubled, but so is the latency. the ram apple uses is ddr3-1066 cas latency 9. the old ram was ddr2-667 @ 5 cas latency. 1066/9=118, 667/5=133. the speed has gone DOWN, not up. standerd pc ram is ddr2-800mhz, with a cas rating of 5.

  21. foxracer927 says:

and you could triple the specifications if you build a pc yourself. lol.

  22. ljscott1990 says:

Bang for buck. Don’t make me laugh. You could more than double all your specifications if you bought a PC.

  23. thechoice33 says:

1st comment for a month, bwahahahahaha!

  24. aaaaaFuck says:

the total cost of the upgrade (for the family PC) was less than $300 AUD.

  25. aaaaaFuck says:

    > apple doesn’t want to end up like microsoft, if they wanted to be like them they would’ve set there software “free” already.

that’s what they want you to think.
But it’s really about getting more money from hardware sales instead of just software sales. Apple are a business.

There’s no real difference between the hardware that’s used; only that it’s being resold by Apple.
