Is studying computer science in the military as valuable as having a Bachelors for it?

Im trying to decide what I want to do with my life, and I really love computers. I dont really have any money for college and to be honest I did pretty bad in high school due to my laziness, but I managed to graduate.

Im just wondering if studying computer science in say, the Air Force, is worth anything when looking for a career afterwards.

Any input is appreciated, thanks.

if you’re lazy, then the military is great for you.. they’ll whip your ass into shape… but… it’s up to you to continue that ethic once you leave..

and….. to your second question… no…… it’s not worth shit… most degrees aren’t worth shit.. unless you want to be an employee for the rest of your life. you need to grow some balls, find some initiative, and start a profitable business and become successful. not everyone can do it………

    can you?

I’m a network engineer with over 30 years of experience.

Yes. The computer industry is experience driven, meaning you have a better chance at getting a quality IT job with that experience, than somebody else does at getting that same job, with a college degree.

There is no substitute to experience.
